1. Who We Are

IG SaveSort is a browser extension (Chrome & Firefox) developed and maintained by Bryan Cowe, based in the Netherlands. For any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at igsavesort@gmail.com.

2. What Data We Process

IG SaveSort processes the following - and nothing more:

Your Instagram session (read-only access)

The extension reads your Instagram saved collections and posts directly from your browser tab, using your existing logged-in Instagram session. This data is never transmitted anywhere - it is read locally and displayed within the extension interface only.

Extension preferences (stored locally)

Four settings are stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in API:

• Dark mode on/off - your display preference
• Move count - tracks how many free moves you have used
• Unlock status - whether you have purchased a license
• License key - your Gumroad license key, stored locally to avoid re-entry (never transmitted beyond the one-time verification described in section 4)

Apart from the license check described in section 4, they are never transmitted and are not accessible to anyone other than you.

What the extension does NOT collect

• No names, email addresses, or account identifiers
• No Instagram content, posts, captions, or media
• No browsing history or activity logs
• No IP addresses or device identifiers
• No analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry
• No cookies set by IG SaveSort itself

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process data under the following legal basis:

• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) - The limited local processing described above is strictly necessary to provide the core functionality of the extension. This data stays on your device.
• Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) - Verifying your license key with Gumroad, and responding to support requests, is necessary to provide what you purchased.

Because the extension's core features run entirely on your device, no consent mechanism is required for its operation. Purchases are handled by Gumroad. As the seller of IG SaveSort, we are able to see purchaser's name and email in Gumroad's dashboard; we would only use them to respond to support requests. Please see Gumroad's privacy policy for how they handle your data.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell or share data with third parties, other than the single license check with Gumroad described throughout this document. IG SaveSort has no backend infrastructure, no analytics integrations, and no advertising relationships.

The extension makes direct API calls to Instagram's own servers on your behalf, using your existing authenticated session. These requests are identical to the requests Instagram's own website makes when you browse your saved collections normally. IG SaveSort is not a party to the data relationship between you and Instagram/Meta.

If you choose to enter a license key to unlock the extension, that key is transmitted to Gumroad's API (api.gumroad.com) solely to verify its validity. No other data is sent. Gumroad's response is checked only to confirm the purchase is valid; none of it is stored. Gumroad's own privacy policy governs how they handle this request.

5. Data Retention

The four local preference values (dark mode, move count, unlock status, license key) are stored on your device until you uninstall the extension or clear Chrome/Firefox's extension storage. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension from your browser.

We retain no data on any server, because the extension sends no data to us.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding personal data:

• Right of access - The only data associated with you is the four local values on your own device, plus your purchase record held by Gumroad.
• Right to erasure - You can delete all extension data instantly by uninstalling IG SaveSort from your browser.
• Right to data portability - Not applicable, as no personal data is stored by us.
• Right to object - You can stop all processing immediately by disabling or uninstalling the extension.
• Right to lodge a complaint - You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

7. Children's Privacy

IG SaveSort is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 where applicable under local law). We do not knowingly process any data from minors. Use of this extension requires an active Instagram account, which is subject to Instagram's own age requirements.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make any material changes to this privacy policy (e.g. if a future version of the extension introduces any data collection) we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and note the changes clearly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
